What to Expect on Your First Tandem Skydive

1. Check In and Get Ready

Arrive at your reservation time to check in, complete your waiver, and watch a safety briefing. Your reservation starts the process; it is not a guaranteed jump time. Plan to spend about half a day with us.

2. Meet Your Instructor

Your tandem instructor will fit your harness and explain the simple steps you need to know before the jump.

3. Fly to Altitude

Board one of our aircraft and enjoy the climb over the Arizona desert. The ride to altitude is part of the experience.

4. Take the Leap

Exit the aircraft securely attached to your instructor and experience the rush of freefall at around 120 mph.

5. Enjoy Your Canopy Flight

After freefall, your instructor deploys the parachute for a peaceful flight back to the dropzone.

6. Celebrate Your First Skydive

Reconnect with your group, collect your media package if selected, and enjoy the fact that you just did something unforgettable.

No. Tandem skydiving is designed for first-time jumpers. You are securely connected to an instructor who manages the technical aspects of the jump.

How long will I be at Skydive Arizona?

Plan to spend about half a day at the dropzone. This includes check-in, paperwork, your briefing, gear-up, the flight to altitude, your skydive, and post-jump time.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, season-appropriate clothing and secure closed-toe shoes. Bring layers in cooler weather. Do not wear sandals, flip-flops, open-toe shoes, or hard-heeled boots.

Can friends and family watch?

Yes. Spectators are welcome to join you at the dropzone and watch the action from the landing area. Please leave pets at home.

What happens if weather prevents us from jumping?

Skydiving is weather dependent. If conditions prevent jumping, we will notify you as soon as possible and help you reschedule. If rescheduling is not possible, refunds are handled under the applicable policy.

Can I breathe in freefall?

Yes. Freefall feels like strong wind in your face, but you can breathe normally.

How do I get to Eloy from the airport?

You can take a rental car and drive or take a shuttle from the airport. If you are a Facebook user, join the Arizona Skydivers group and often times you will be able to find someone to ride with from Phoenix or Tucson.

Can I bring my dog?

Skydive Arizona is a pet-free dropzone. If you are staying in an RV on the property, your pet must stay out of the landing areas and common facilities at all times. There is plenty of desert to use for potty breaks.
