Featured Friday - Windee Hill

December 09, 2016

Skydive Arizona is a big drop zone with many extraordinary people! The Featured Friday series is aimed at getting to know the people that make Skydive Arizona work and rock!

Today we meet a girl who grew up on the drop zone (Skydive AZ specifically) and has worked almost every aspect of the business. She continues her family legacy in her own, unique way. Meet the beautiful, Windee Hill!

What departments have you worked on the DZ and which one are you currently doing?
It’d be easier to list where I haven’t worked…
I started working at the coffee shop when I was 13 years old. From there I moved over to the Bent Prop and worked there 3-4 years. In 2009 I started working at the school, shortly after I also started working part time at the tunnel. In 2014 I left the school and moved over to manifest. I was only over there for a year before coming back to school. Who knows where they will send me next!?
What's your favorite thing about working on the DZ?
I get to work with Family and Friends. Most days it doesn’t feel like work at all.
Who wouldn’t love that!?
What's your least favorite?
Because I work here and only live 3 miles away, I don’t get much “away” time from the dropzone-It can be all consuming at times.

You grew up around skydiving. What did it take for you to make your first jump?
Well…I didn’t do my first jump until I was 21. Once my family stopped pressuring me to jump I randomly decided one morning to do it. My grandma was bummed because she wasn’t able to watch-but it was the only way they were going to get me in the air J
Tell us about your first jump? And how many do you have total?
My first jump was SUPER awesome (Thanks Tom Deacon). I had only asked Ian and Jocelyn to be on the jump with me, but once we were on the plane 7 others decided to join. It made for an awesome experience and a really cool picture. Since then I have done two other jumps, another with Tom and then one with Andy Locke-thanks dude!

Any plans to continue in the future? Why or why not?
I go back and forth with the idea all the time..but in all honesty I don’t see myself as a jumper.
It’s never been something I’ve been super stoked on-I guess you could blame growing up here on that.

What do you want people to know most about you?
I don’t want anyone to know anything about me. Ever.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I hope everyone has a great day and don’t forget to hug the ones you love :)
