Featured Friday - Terry Gardner

July 15, 2015

Skydive Arizona is a big drop zone. No - a GINORMOUS drop zone with a lot of people from visiting to local jumpers, to staff, pilots, instructors, gr
ound crew, maintenance, manifest to teams, event organizers and load organizers!!! The Featured Friday series is aimed at getting to know the people that make Skydive Arizona work and rock

In this week's series, we meet a Load Organizer who goes above and beyond organizing big-way groups in his spare time. A familiar face and always warmly greets you. Meet, Terry Gardner!

Where did you come from before Skydive Arizona and what made you choose to come here?

I was at Skydive Chicago before I came to Skydive Arizona.  I have jumped at Skydive Arizona since 1996.  When my job was eliminated in 2006 we moved into the house we owned in Casa Grande.

When did you start jumping?

1991, first jump out of the Beech 18 at Hinckley.  But I finished AFF at Skydive Chicago.

What keeps you in the sport?

Fun jumping with a great group of people.  Watching jumpers off student status becoming very proficient skydivers.

How does one inquire on getting onto your monthly RW big-way invitationals?

Just talk to me. I like to make sure that everyone on the jump is safe and capable.

Skydiving plans for the future?

Organizing, helping with events like Rookie Roundup, and doing some casual 4-way.

Speed Round (quickly choose one without thought):

First load or sunset load?
First load

Turtle or the Hare?

Rock & roll or Funk & Jazz?
Rock & Roll

Square or elliptical

Anything else you’d like to add?

The skydive is not over until we are back in the hangar.  And know when to say no
