The annual Arizona Days Boogie took place at Skydive Arizona September 13th to 15th. Skydive Arizona puts on this boogie every September as a thank-you to all our loyal skydiving customers and staff. Although this year's dates overlapped with the USPA National Championships, a good crowd still turned out for the event. The boogie kicked off on Friday with $20 jump tickets and load organizers for all skill levels. The day finished off with a Hit n' Chug won by Johnny Gunn in 17.2 seconds.

Volunteers for Skydive Arizona landing area remodel

Volunteer work force for the landing area remodel

Saturday morning started off with a special early take off for all the locals and staff who volunteered their time to help upgrade Skydive Arizona's North Landing Area. This summer the whole landing area was leveled, a new irrigation system was put in, and the area was hydro-seeded (twice due to a poorly timed rainstorm) for new grass. Bob Lund, head of grounds maintenance for Skydive Arizona, made his first skydive with instructor and landing area remodel mastermind Aaron O'Brien. After the volunteers landed on the new grass, the landing area was declared open for business!

The $20 jump tickets and load organizing continued into Saturday along with 20-Way Second Sphere jumps organized by John Verley, some very interesting bikini/speedo jumps, and a load from the DC3.

After sunset, the Arizona Days party got started at the Bent Prop with some great live music. It has become a tradition for Skydive Arizona to host a brisket dinner during Arizona Days. The dinner (and beer) is free to all registered jumpers as well as staff and their families. The brisket is prepared every year by Steve Hill, Vice President of Skydive Arizona. As usual the meal did not disappoint and definitely helped increase everyone's fall rate for Sunday's jumps! Thanks to everyone for coming out and a special thanks to all the Skydive Arizona staff who helped make this year's Arizona Days Boogie a great success.
