The annual Wild West Easter Boogie took place at Skydive Arizona this past weekend with 274 registered participants. The event kicked off Friday with 57 loads and 1,147 skydives. The last Otter load of the day featured a Cowboy Shoot. Participants had to shoot for landing accuracy, shoot a paint ball gun at a target, and shoot a shot of tequila. Nineteen jumpers participated, and local Bill Butler took the glory (and the remaining tequila) when he came in first at 9.35 seconds! Friday closed out with a sold out BBQ dinner at the Bent Prop with music by local favorite Ke Dime. The jumping continued at a steady pace on Saturday. Despite a mid-afternoon wind hold, we flew 48 loads for the day with 999 jumps. The Wild West party took place at the Bent Prop Saturday evening with live music, a mechanical bull, and 25 cent Boogie beer. Everyone came out in their best Western gear and posed for photos to enter the Wild West Costume Contest. Winners will be chosen based on the number of Likes received by Saturday April 6th on the Skydive Arizona Facebook page. On Sunday things were a bit quieter while some recovered from Saturday nights festivities and others packed up to head back to home dropzones. The last day of the Boogie came in at 32 loads and 628 skydives. Grand total of 137 loads and 2,774 skydives, even with Saturday's wind hold that is one awesome Easter Boogie! Thanks everyone for coming out and a special thanks to all the Skydive Arizona staff who made the Boogie such a success.
