Night Jumps

November 21, 2026

Night jumps are one of the five options you have for completing your D-license requirements; but night jumps are not limited just to those pursuing a D. While often accompanied by an increase in adrenaline, night jumps are one of the most beautiful and surreal experiences you can have in the sky. And at Skydive Arizona, we split each night load into two or three passes to limit the number of other canopies sharing that experience with you.
Assuming favorable weather, for the night load to fly at least 15 people must be preregistered at Manifest before 3 PM on the day before the night jump.
Registration opens one week prior in the Manifest office. You must bring a ticket and cash to the office (no online payments or credit card forms anymore) to register! Only one load (23 slots) will be sent and it’ll probably fill up fast!
A full load is 23 jumpers. If we have at least 15 additional people on the waiting list, we will consider flying a second night load.
A MANDATORY night jump briefing will be held in the main hangar or conference room 1 (listen for the announcements) shortly before sunset.
Make sure that your rig is already packed before the briefing so that you will have time afterward to attach your lights and acclimate your night vision. Night load will take off 45-60 minutes after sunset (6:50PM)
Cost: 1 jump ticket plus $30 cash ($10 covers after-hours staffing, $20 is fully refundable deposit for lights). If you have questions about lights, email groundops@skydiveaz.com
Requirements:
– B license-qualified. USPA requires that you have met all the requirements to test for your B license (50 jumps, canopy course, freefall performance requirements) to participate in night jumps
– Make at least one jump at SDAZ during the day on the same day as the night jump in order to familiarize yourself with the prevailing wind conditions, landing area, potential outs, and obstacle fields you want to avoid
– Be current and comfortable on the canopy you will be jumping. **Square2 does NOT rent gear for night jumps; you must have your own gear!**
– Have an altimeter with a glow-in-the-dark face or backlit display. An audible is also highly encouraged
– Have clear goggles or a clear faceplate for your helmet (no tinted visors at night)
– Be completely comfortable making a straight-in approach in dead-calm conditions; at night all pattern turns are limited to 90 degrees
– Be current with your emergency procedures and comfortable with the idea of implementing them in the dark
