Performance Designs is one of the most respected canopy manufacturers in the skydiving industry and a trusted name among jumpers worldwide. Founded in 1982, the company began with Bill Coe’s vision to improve the performance of ram-air parachutes and help move the sport forward. His passion for skydiving began with his first jump in 1976, and that passion eventually grew into a company built around innovation, testing, and a deep love for flight.
Today, Performance Designs is based in DeLand, Florida, and continues to design and build canopies for skydivers of many experience levels. John LeBlanc, Vice President of Performance Designs, has also played a major role in the company’s development and long-standing reputation for canopy innovation. Together, the team at Performance Designs has helped shape modern parachute design and continues to support skydivers through high-quality products, education, service, and resources.
Why Performance Designs Aligns with Skydive Arizona
Skydive Arizona is proud to recognize Performance Designs as a business partner because both companies share a commitment to progression, performance, and the skydiving community.
At Skydive Arizona, jumpers come to learn, train, compete, and grow in the sport. The drop zone is built around helping first-time skydivers, licensed jumpers, canopy pilots, teams, coaches, and world-class athletes experience skydiving at every level. Performance Designs supports that same journey by creating canopies that skydivers trust as they continue to build skill, confidence, and awareness under canopy.
The connection between Skydive Arizona and Performance Designs is rooted in a shared commitment to a culture where safety, education, innovation, and experience matter. Whether a skydiver is learning basic canopy control, refining accuracy, training for competition, or exploring higher-performance flight, the equipment they choose plays an important role in their progression.
Performance Designs has spent more than 40 years designing and building canopies for skydivers of all kinds. That long-term dedication makes them a natural fit for the Skydive Arizona community, where jumpers from around the world gather to push their skills, connect with others, and keep advancing in the sport.
